WYE Valley runners have been going the extra mile in marathons and across national borders and back.
On Good Friday, Spirit of Monmouth’s Running Club’s Jeremy Creasey, Martin Blakebrough and his son Luke headed to the beautiful Cotswolds to take on the Westonbirt House Easter half marathon .
The route consisted of a two-lap course around the house and gardens taking in some beautiful scenery and quiet country roads.
Martin's son Luke finished in 1 hour 33 minutes 46 seconds in his first ever half marathon.
Chasing him down, dad Martin finished in 1.40.40 for fourth overall in his age category, while Jeremy finished with a negative split in 1.53.33.
Meanwhile, MonRoss-Trailblazers have congratulated Faye Johnson on not only winning her age group in the recent Forest Spring marathon, but qualifying as a result to represent England in the International Masters Trail Race in September.
"Faye ran the FOD Spring Trails half marathon, finishing fifth in her age category in a very competitive field! Little did she know at the time, that this race would qualify her to represent England..." posted the club.
"What an amazing achievement Faye, we are incredibly proud!"
Overseas, mum and daughter Blazers Emma and Rosie Davies took on the Berlin Half Marathon and running together paced their race all the way through to finish in 1 hour 53 minutes 58 seconds – Rosie's first half marathon under two hours.

Club mate Gavin Jones also stormed home second in the recent 435-strong Severn Bridge Twilight five-mile race hosted by Rogueruns, racing over the estuary to England and back from Chepstow in Wales in 29.10, just over half a minute behind winner Alex Bass of Best Athletics.
Alastair Masterton of Run With Us Abergavenny placed third in 29.31, 17 seconds ahead of Ryan Stephens of Stroud & District AC, while Tim Bathchelor of Chepstow Harriers was close behind in fifth in 30.07.
Molly Grace Waddington was fastest woman in 34.45, 1.22 ahead of Pontypridd Roadents’ Rachel Dicker, while Kelly Major of Monmouth Tri Club was first over-40 woman and sixth best female in 38.40, followed by club mate Sharon Neville in 43.07.
Harriers’ Andrew Oliver was also fourth over-55 man in 36.07, with club mate Rick Warren crossing in 39.55.
Striding out over a longer distance in the Newport Marathon was Blazer Rob Nicholls who finished 138th in 2.51.
New club mate Ben Humphries ran 3.26 on his debut race for MonRoss, while Gary Griffiths finished in 3.40.
Meanwhile, several local runners are heading for the London Marathon this Sunday, including Spirit’s Vicky Roberts, who secured a good-for-age place running the 2024 race.

She is running in aid of The Brain Tumour Charity after her uncle and godfather Marc Wilding was diagnosed with terminal Glioblastoma Multiform last year when he was supposed to run the 2024 marathon.
Following an operation, radiotherapy and chemotherapy last summer, Marc will amazingly be lining up on the start alongside Vicky this time.
To support Vicky’s fundraiser, go to JustGiving and search for ‘Vicky's fundraiser for Brain Tumour Research’.
Also running are Blazers Rich Foster, who first did the marathon in 2003, and Trina Sami-Brown, who won the club ballot for a place, and who is fundraising via gofundme for Many Tears Animal Rescue.
