Six local exhibitors have begun showcasing their works at Monmouth’s Rolls Hall.
Frances Green, Kelly Davies, Peter Bere, Myra Fricker Lisa O’Neill and Gill Nicolas (her first exhibition) were invited by Empty Spaces CIC to exhibit their work at the library and community hub which will also see free talks and workshops held on Saturday mornings 10am to midday up to Feb 8th.
Empty Sapces CIC have some exciting news about upcoming projects around the town.
The group are continuing their Living Windows projects and are in the process of planning and designing more exciting projects such as the entrance to Swan Court and The Oldway Centre.
Helen Wragg told the Beacon at the opening of the art exhibition in the Rolls Hall that the designs have been sent to the shop owners.
“We have submitted designs for the entrance to the White Swan Court which will carry on from the fabulous chemist which is nearly 200 years old, George Maddox was the architect and we’re hoping to get a blue plaque.
“Then in the Oldway Centre, we are looking at the Fat Face windows that are blacked out, the one next to the pastie shop and the one in the corner which was the Charity Cymru shop,” she added.
Then their attention will move to the old photo shop in Church Street and the former opticians in Monnow Street. They hope the work will be done by March 31st and they need volunteers, artists and designers.
