The final act of Mary Woollard's two-year tenure as Ladies' Captain at Monmouth Golf Club was to present a cheque for £500 to her chosen charity for 2012, Healing the Wounds.
The magnificent sum was raised throughout the year in various ways and is a testament to the generosity of the ladies at Monmouth Golf Club who donated throughout the year.
Healing the Wounds is an Armed Forces charity based near Bridgend, Kevin Richards, the founder and executive director of Healing the Wounds explained during the visit that the Charity delivers support to serving personnel, Veterans and the Police, Fire and Ambulance emergency services who are suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
The support offered covers health and wellbeing, employment and re-training, housing and any other issues that affect everyday life.
Aimee Phillips, the events and fundraising co-ordinator for Healing the Wounds, said: "As we survive on fundraising and donations, we were truly grateful for the generosity of the donation of £500 from the ladies of Monmouth Golf Club which will help us to make a real and lasting difference to the lives of those supported by Healing the Wounds."
