CHEPSTOW Town kept their mathematical Ardal South East title hopes alive with a 4-1 home win over seventh-placed Brecon Corries on Saturday, including a first senior goal for 16-year-old Mason Haysom three minutes into stoppage time.

Harry Waterhouse put them one up after just six minutes and the lead was doubled 11 minutes later when Adam Wakley was set up by Josh Parsons.

Finnan Maguire-Hamblett added a third on 64 minutes, and although Corries reduced the deficit six minutes later, Haysom's late show running through on goal to fire home ensured all three points.

The win leaves them 12 points behind leaders Treowen Stars with five games to play and two in hand.

The 2nds actually beat Stars 2nds 5-3 away on Saturday in the FAW South East Reserves League, Malique West firing four backed by one from Bailey Hobbs.

Glascoed in their first season sealed the Gwent Central 2 title without playing when second-placed Pontypool Town 2nds lost 4-2 at Prescoed the previous week.

But Ponty obtained some revenge on Saturday, ending the champions' season-long winning run by racing into a 4-0 lead at home before Gavin Phillips restored some respectability with two late goals.

Tintern Abbey also lost out 2-0 away to high-flying Underwood in East Gwent 2, leaving the Wyesiders fourth.

And Redbrook Rovers 2nds lost 5-0 at home to second-placed Ruardean United in North Gloucestershire 2, leaving them two points clear of safety but with three games in hand on Bream 2nds.

Chepstow Town visit third-placed Caldicot Town for a mouthwatering Ardal South East derby this Saturday (April 19), while their 2nds host Abergavenny 2nds the same afternoon.

Redbrook Rovers are also home to NG1 leaders Longhope, with their 2nds away to Mushet & Coalway, while the Jockeys' 3rds host town neighbours Thornwell R&W 2nds in East Gwent One on Tuesday (April 22).
