CHEPSTOW Town led 2-0 early in the second half in their top-of-the-table clash at Canton on Sunday, despite a 40th-minute red card banishing team boss Marc Ingles to the stand.

Josh Parsons fired the Jockeys in front on 13 minutes, and Harry Waterhouse doubled the lead on 50 minutes.

But the Cardiff outfit struck back 16 minutes later through Chris Dye, before sub Jack Wheten levelled a minute from normal time, with the match finishing 2-2.

The result leaves Canton second in Ardal South East on 29 points, five behind leaders Treowen Stars, with Chepstow third on 26 points.

Elsewhere, Tintern Abbey found the gulf of three divisions too much to bridge, as the East Gwent 2 outfit lost 8-0 at Gwent Premier One outfit Aberbargoed Buds in the Gwent County FA Amateur Cup.

Usk Town also crashed out 7-2 at fellow Gwent Premier Two side Brynmawr United.

The hosts were three up after 23 minutes before Gene Gurie pulled one back on the half-hour mark.

But four more goals in 15 minutes either side of half-time put the game out of reach at 7-1 with 35 minutes to play, although Mark Davies grabbed a penalty consolation on 62 minutes.

Glascoed made it 10 out of 10 in Gwent Central 2, as they marched on at the top with a 5-1 win away to Fairfield 2nds, Dawson Stubbs with a brace backed by strikes from Shane Davies, Kevin Andrews and Andrew Lewis.

Chepstow Town 3rds won bragging rights in the East Gwent One derby with Thornwell 2nds, winning 3-2 thanks to two late goals in a minute, sub David Edwards levelling and Kobe Jones firing the winner seconds later, after a Mason Haysom penalty just before half-time had seen them 1-0 up at the break.

Josh Barrett had fired Thornwell level on 60 minutes and Logan Jones put them in front three minutes later, but they proved consolations as the Jockeys’ late one-two took the points.
