Two Monmouth Fire Fighters are heading out to Ukraine as part of a convoy delivering six fire engines to the Ukraine emergency services.
Group Manager at South Wales Fire and Rescue Darren Cleaves and Monmouth firefighter Kelly Christopher have left for the Polish/Ukraine border as part of a 30 strong convoy of UK fire engines being donated to Ukraine emergency services.
The convoy is made up of over 15,000 items of equipment, 107 drivers involving 18 fire and rescue services.
In total South Wales has delivered 20 appliances over the last three years.
Darren told the Beacon, “This is my third convoy helping our colleagues in the ongoing conflict. As well as appliances we have delivered over 4,000 pieces of equipment and ppe.”
They will be part of a team of 18 from South Wales taking six trucks this year with the others from all over the UK
