The community of Mitchel Troy put on an event on April 5 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the opening of the village hall - a celebration with coincided with opening of their newly revamped garden area.
The day was organised by a group of local volunteers who also bake cakes for the monthly coffee mornings- Coffi Troddi.
Local company Playwood built the hard landscaping and installed the picnic tables and gazebo around the hall and the garden was created under the watchful supervision of Tom Ward- Jackson on behalf of Keep Wales Tidy, which helped fund the project.

The village hall’s land was initially gifted to the village by a resident in the 1930s although the original hall became dilapidated and was replaced in 1975.
Mitchel Troy village hall has been used to host many events in the community over the years , from musical performances and quiz nights to community fundraisers and social gatherings and of course the ever popular - Coffi Troddi.
Members of the community gathered on this special day to celebrate this landmark birthday, along with spending time with other family members and people in the local area.
Fundraisers for the event included Eileen Williams and local resident Reg Moulton who officially opened the new community garden which was created with support from the National Lottery and Keep Wales tidy thanks to successful funding bids put together by Ceri Jones .
Food was arranged at the event by Pigs on Spits who impressed everyone with their hog roast lunch with vegetarian and child- friendly options also available.

There were drinks on sale from their very own Trothy pop-up pub from 12pm and onwards and the event went on till 10.30pm.
