A body of a man was found in the river in Cwmbran on Sunday following a police search for a missing person.
Formal identification is yet to take place but the family of 64-year-old Richard Garner, who was reported as missing from his home in Newport, has been informed.
“Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time,” said a Gwent Police spokesman.
The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
