AUTHOR and comedian Marc Burrows will be journeying through the life and work of Discworld comedy fantasy novelist Sir Terry Pratchett at Monmouth's Savoy next week.
His show The Magic of Sir Terry Pratchett is based on Marc's Locus Award-winning biography and officially endorsed by the author’s estate.
He'll be exploring Sir Terry's life, influences, impact, wit and wisdom, from his days as a school librarian to his time as a trainee journalist, to his untimely death from Alzheimers in 2015.
Discworld is a comic fantasy series set on a flat planet balanced on the backs of four elephants which in turn stand on the back of a giant turtle.
And the show celebrates the 40th anniversary of the first book, where you will be able to discover the joy, anger, and delicious cock ’n’ bull stories of one of the greatest storytellers of all time.
But Marc warns – it includes bad puns and unnecessary footnotes.
One review said: “Burrows does a fantastic job of navigating both the super-fan and the novice through the story of Pratchett’s life, work and legacy."
And Starburst Magazine said: “Funny, clever and profound, The Magic of Terry Pratchett is a strong and intelligent show for fans of fantasy, puns and good stories. Unmissable.”
The Magic of Sir Terry Pratchett it at the Savoy on Wednesday, September 18, at 7.30pm.
Tickets (£18.50) are available from the box office or via monmouth-savoy.co.uk/whats-on/live/
