This picture of the visit to the Park Royal Brewery in March 1961 by the Monmouth & District Licensed Victuallers’ Association was sent in to the office. It has been confirmed by reporter Nick Hartland that the person standing on the right hand side in the second row up is none other than former editor Ken Goodwin.
Another face identified by reporter Des Pugh is the lady seated on the far left to be Dardenella ‘Ella’ Morgan of Bryn Morgan bus fame, This was confirmed by her family member Di Lindemans who said her great-aunt and great-uncle were Bryn (Brynmor) and Ella Morgan who lived and worked in Monmouth for many years in 1940s up to 1970s. They had a coach company and taxi service. They ran the Druids Head Inn until it was sold to the Rugby football Club.
They lived on Wonastow Road next to where his original vehicle yard was (its now Victoria Court) before moving the yard to a larger piece of land further down Wonastow Road.
One of the drivers was Wilf Bendall, fondly remembered for having his cap at an angle, another was George Williams
Stephen Grice worked as a fitter at Bryn's . “He was a great guy to work for ( I did not put boss as I was around 19/20years old and he treated all his employees as friends) .The other fitter working for him was Reg Furber, I think he worked for Bryn from start to finish.”
