On Saturday 29th June The Hive Community cafe project held a community engagement day to reach out to the public and ask them for feedback on what The Hive Community Cafe can bring to the Wyesham community. They invited many other organisations and groups to show the public a glimpse of what a new community hub could bring to Wyesham.
Monmouth Community Fridge, Transition Monmouth, Benthyg, Wyesham Warren, Foods for all, MHA, springdale produce, Gwent Police and Upbeat Music all attended the event.
The project plans to build a cafe to provide the community with a place to meet with friends, to attend workshops, meetings and events to give the wyesham community a sense of belonging and to reach out to people that feel isolated, are lonely and generally help with the communities wellbeing.
The Hive are working on their feasibility study which is part of the criteria when applying for a large lottery grant. Monmouthshire show have chosen The Hive as their charity this year and are providing a space for The Hive to continue their community engagement at Monmouthshire show.
Wyesham Hive are busy campaigning for a community hub in Wyesham that would serve as a social, sports, and well-being space on the site of the old Girls' Brigade hut
