As with many food banks across the country community food donations have been declining steadily over the last two years, with a 33% reduction, meaning they no longer meet the weekly demand for emergency food parcels.

The Monmouth food bank exists to help members of the community by providing up to three emergency food parcels in a six month period.

“People come to us for many reasons including: redundancy, ill health, relationship break up, cost of living increase, mortgage / rent increase and many others,” said Martin Howlett.

“We are trying to increase our media presence to explain to the community what we do and why we urgently need their support.”

We have dramatically increased our Facebook postings but need to reach members of the community who don't use social media.

If everyone donated just one tin a week it would make all the difference!
