MP Catherine Fookes met with Maria Eagle the Minister for MOD Procurement and the The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) - the estate expert in planning, building, maintaining, and servicing infrastructure for defence -in January.

She understands that there is some grounds for more optimism and a joint recognition that the whole community is distressed and angry at the closure. The minister is asking the DIO if and when funding for the bridge can be prioritised. The DIO is now looking into it with some urgency but may contend money is not available, However, the Minister is able to direct funding to be made available.
