The Society was delighted to welcome Andrew Lloyd from Bewdly with his theme “September Song”.
First display was a tall cocktail glass. A bowl with oasis was placed and taped into the glass and a base of grey fern, which botanical name escaped him, together with dark green laurel; to this were added tall stems of Longi lillies and stems of gypsophila to represent champagne bubbles and double white gerberas.
Second: Many people now decorate their front doors with seasonal wreaths but for those who do not have a wooden door Andrew created a standing Door Ring. A large woven willow wreath frame was fixed to a stake mounted on a trellis base of sticks. A block of oasis was fixed to the base and ivy sulphur heart stems together with autumn foliage was wound through and down the support to the base. Dark laurel and aucuba laurel was added together with lemon yellow gladioli stems, lemon spray carnations, sunflowers and crocosmia seed heads.
Third: Andrew visits Paris frequently and is reminded of an Art Nouveau flower shop there which he represented on a low round tray. All the foliage was contained within the tray and a selection of pittosporum, euonymus and blue macaw parrot tail feathers. A lavender orchid stem was added in a water tube together with a cerise orchid stem and 1 green anthurium.
Fourth: Autumn Basket filled with ferns, ligularia, stems of fuchsia, pink dyed French oak leaves, September flower, Autumn pink chrysanth, green and pink sedums, purple ornamental cabbage, stargazer lilies.
Fifth: A wire rectangular cage with diagonally placed containers inside and atop provided the base for long stems of ligularia, natural green oak, stems of physalis, orange crocosmia, orange carthamus, orange carnations, stems of Fuego carnations and peach roses.
