This year, Monmouth Carnival Committee introduced a school competition and were very fortunate to receive sponsorship from Playwood Ltd and Paul Jarrold Tyres, two local family run businesses in Monmouth.  

The competition received over 300 entries and from these, 30 winners were chosen with their work displayed at the carnival on Sunday.

They had winners across the 10 year groups (reception to Year 9) from the following schools: Overmonnow Primary, Trellech, Raglan, Cross Ash, Kymin View, Llandogo, Osbaston Primary, the Haberdashers Boy and Girls schools and Monmouth Comprehensive School.

A special prize, donated by Playwood limited goes to the school with the most entries, this was Trellech Primary School.  They are over the moon to have won the outdoor sandpit!

A spokesman for the carnival committee said: “The effort and talent was phenomenal, as a judging panel, we struggled to select the winners.  We are fortunate to have the opportunity for the winners to go on display in the old 'One Stop Shop' in Monmouth for the month of July, we would recommend people popping by to see the wonderful talent on display.”
