The local Rotary Club focuses on helping others by providing support to local communities and, of course, in responding to international emergencies.
In response to an offer of Rotary illustrated dictionaries to local schools, the newly elected Rotary President, Christopher Wilson, presented eight dictionaries to representatives of each year at both Tutshill and Undy schools.
Miss Lane, the Executive Headteacher of Tutshill Church of England School, ensured that all her scholars sat in neat rows while the representatives of each year came forward to receive their dictionaries with a smile.
At Undy Primary School it was headteacher, Miss Edmunds, who explained the role of Rotary by telling her 400 children that while doing something for yourself gives satisfaction, far more self worth comes from helping someone else. This was a simple interpretation of Rotary’s ‘Service above self’. The children then came in turn for the presentations from the youngest to the most senior.
It had been yet another satisfying, event for Rotary in the community.
