PENALLT and Redbrook Cricket Club were asked to bat on a good firm wicket in their game against Ruardean Cricket Club on Saturday 6th June, and put together a useful 205.
Guy Adams (77 not out) and a fiery 60 from Simon Owens were the backbone of the innings, though Ruardean had some economy from D. Matthews with 2 for 27, but the fielding let them down as many chances were missed.
Determined to take advantage, Penallt had Owens take two wickets for 27, but Ruardean's Williamson made an impressive 55 until a change of bowler to Keith Powles had an edgy shot caught.
Then Myles Evill managed four wickets for 29 runs, seeing out the middle order, and it all finished with Ruardean on a total of 149 runs.
Penallt CC is always looking for more players, so if you like some village cricket in a friendly little club with good facilities, contact Myles Evill on 07877 506873.
