The Welsh Cup, round-three draw has given Monmouth Town home advantage against top-flight outfit Corbett Welsh Premier League side Bala Town when the teams clash on Saturday 8th December (1.30pm). Bala are the form side in the Welsh Premier and will make the trip from North Wales with former Sheffield Wednesday star Kenny Lunt in their side along with ex Welsh International Mark Jones and a couple of former Everton Youth players.
Although the Kingfishers, sponsored by WyeMedia, start as underdogs it's certainly rated as a banana skin for the Lakesiders: "They won't fancy coming to Monmouth for this knowing that the Town are flying. It's a cup tie and anything can happen on the day" Club Chairman Lee Robson said. "It's another of those biggest game in our history and we certainly fancy an upset. If we can get a good crowd behind us and nick a goal then who knows" . The club are hoping that S4C programme Scorio will be sending cameras to the game for their highlights package and are on the look out for local businesses who would like to sponsor the match, match ball or wish the town luck in the award winning match day programme. Town are currently second in the Welsh League, unbeaten in twelve and will look to keep their run going this Saturday at home to Risca United (1.30pm) for a place in the last eight of the Welsh League cup.
