DEWSTOW Golf Academy has been granted £1,350 to purchase new equipment and to support the academy's efforts to get more children playing golf.
For the past two years, Dewstow Golf Academy has been working hard to offer opportunities for more children to get into the game of golf.
To provide this the academy's coaches have been working extensively with the local community, taking golf into the primary schools, leisure centres and offering sessions at the club.
The grant will further support their work through 2015, helping fulfil Sport Wales' mission of "more people, more active, more often".
Martin Davidson, one of Dewstow's golf professionals said: "We are delighted to be able to continue to promote the game of golf within the local community and get more young people playing.
"This is the second community chest grant we have received and it has made a great difference to our junior numbers at the club."
Ian Saunders, leisure services manager said: "Community Chest has helped a lot of sports clubs to become established within Monmouthshire, whereas other clubs and associations have been awarded grants to help them expand and offer further sporting opportunities."
If you are a member of a club or association who could benefit from £1,500, you are encouraged to contact the Sport & Community Development Team on 01633 644544 or visit the website for further details.
