LAST week the Seniors’ Section of Raglan Parc Golf Club held its annual competition to support a chosen charity.
This year the competition was held to provide a children’s life support machine for Nevill Hall Hospital.
On a splendid day, 72 members turned out, and the trophy was highly contested. The standard of play matched the weather, and 13 competitors had Stableford scores of 40 and above. What was more exceptional was that none was disqualified! The winner, with 43 points, was Leighton Williams, who beat Les Murray on count back.
The real winner on the day was the charity, as almost £800 was raised. It is hoped that a Country and Western night in September will substantially increase that sum, and such is the support for the charity that tickets were sold out almost as soon as the notice was posted
