FINN Maguire-Hamblett put Chepstow Town in front at home to Croesyceiliog on Saturday, but they came unstuck as three second half visitors’ goals in six minutes and a missed penalty cost them a share of the points in a 3-2 loss.
The high-flying Ardal South East Jockeys took the lead on the half-hour mark and kept it until the 53rd minute, when Owen Llewellyn pounced to level things up.
That started a remarkable turnaround, as Croesy needed just three minutes to add a second, Zac Osbourne firing home for 2-1.
And worse followed moments later when Llewellyn hit the target for his second and a 3-1 lead.
The craziness continued as Sam Lewis gave Chepstow a lifeline within another three minutes for 3-2.
And the hosts had a golden opportunity to level up with eight minutes left when the ref pointed to the spot, but Matt Board failed to convert and Croesy held on to go ninth, with the Jockeys slipping to fifth.
The 2nds won though, securing a 3-2 comeback win at Goytre on Friday night with late goals from William Fox-Pritchard (78), Joseph Heal (82) and Bailey Hobbs (90+2).
Elsewhere, Usk Town look set for a tough season in Gwent Premier 2 after a midweek home loss to Cwmcarn Athletic was followed by Saturday defeat at Oak FC.
Louis Quinton levelled up 1-1 after just six minutes in midweek, but the hosts trailed 4-1 at the break.
And despite his second two minutes into the second period, a penalty two minutes later and a late goal saw them beaten 6-2.
Quinton again scored at Oak to make it 1-1 on 26 minutes, but the wheels came off after the break, with three goals in eight minutes making it 4-1 at the final whistle, and leaving Usk second to bottom.
Chepstow's Thornwell R&W didn't fare much better, losing 6-1 at home to fellow high-flyers Pontnewydd.
Usk 2nds also fell by the same score at home to Pontypool 2nds to stay bottom of Gwent Central 2, while Thornwell 2nds lost 4-2 at home to Sudbrook CC in East Gwent 1.
