Seniors at Monmouth Golf Club were divided into Anglos and Celts for the annual Celtic Cup Challenge.
Seniors captain Graham Mitchell led the Anglos in the match-play competition and Chesney Britton captained the Celts.
The early stages of the competition, which brought out some of the deep-seated rivalry between the players, went the way of the Anglos, but the Celts soon fought back to be on level terms.
Excitement and tensions grew in the clubhouse as news filtered back that the matches were all square with the last match unfinished and the combatants on their way to the 18th green.
It came down to the last putt on the final green and a devastating miss for the unfortunate Anglo golfer, handing victory to the Celts.
