SIR, In a few months' time Monmouth Town Council will have to set its budget for the financial year 2015/16. At this time, the members of the town council will have to decide whether or not to take on additional services which are at the moment provided by the Monmouthshire County Council. The town council would like to engage with the council tax payers of the town by giving them the opportunity to respond to the following question that was included within the first town council newsletter: 'Do you think that Monmouth Town Council should consider financially supporting any services that may be withdrawn by the County Council? 'If the answer is yes, which services would you be willing to pay increased Council Tax for – supporting tourist information, pest control, graffiti removal, street cleaning, or another service that you consider important?' In order to allow people to express their opinions, a series of public meetings have been arranged on the following dates; Saturday 6th September at Bridges Community Centre between 10am and 1pm. Saturday 13th September at Monmouth Priory between 10am and 12noon. Saturday 20th September at St James Community Hall, Wyesham, between 10am and 1pm. The newsletter and questionnaire is also available on the town council's website, http://www.monmouth.gov.uk">www.monmouth.gov.uk We look forward to seeing residents of the town at these informal meetings with councillors and make sure their opinions are heard. Cllr Terry Christopher (Chairman, Public Consultation Working Group)
