AT their meeting on Wednesday 15th February, members of Monmouth Rotary Club enjoyed presentations from two hugely worthwhile charities: Macmillan Nurses and Wales Air Ambulance.
Ellie Clark from Macmillan Nurses explained that cancer is a huge problem in Wales with one out of two people being affected by it at some time in their lives.
Macmillan takes the view that no one should face cancer alone and they aim to provide the essential support to improve the lives of sufferers. However they urgently need the public’s help to continue providing this service.
Catryn Hall described how the Wales Air Ambulance provides emergency cover for everyone in Wales throughout the year. From three air bases, their crews can reach anywhere in the country in twenty minutes.
She explained that the charity relies upon the generous support of the people of Wales and needs £6 million a year to keep their aircraft flying.
Roger Finn, president of Monmouth Rotary Club, thanked Ellie and Catryn for their presentations and said that Rotary recognizes the essential and valuable work of their organizations. On behalf of Monmouth Rotary Club he presented both charities with £1,250 to help maintain their services.
