The game against Crumlin was postponed because of a frozen ground and this merely adds to the fixture congestion that is fast building up despite the cooperation of Monmouth Town AFC with whom we pitch-share, because of the worse than usual weather.
In fairness our pitch on the Sports Ground is normally playable when others are not but good drainage counts for nought when the ground becomes frozen.
Not only does this place an organisational burden on officials and players alike but it has quite significantly affected our cash-flow as players are led astray shopping and other alternative Saturday afternoon pursuits!
Seriously though, in our last Committee we were actively discussing how best to provide alternative entertainment / activities to redress our bank balance but the only thing we have part planned is a luncheon with refreshment at the Club on Saturday 6 February to watch the televised England v Wales International for which details will soon be published.
We are also hoping against hope that our away Swalec Bowl game versus Bala can go ahead on Saturday week 16 Jan. or the fixture mess will be even worse. As a Club without floodlights we cannot of course turn to mid-week and evening games so perhaps for future years that is going to have to become one of our objectives and thus investments.
