DOG lovers can now walk their pet at a new canine-friendly Forest trail inspired by Wallace and Gromit.

The walk at Mallards Pike has been launched by Forestry England in partnership with Aardman and Ordnance Survey as part of a nationwide series to celebrate the joy of dog-walking in nature.

The trail, one of 22 across England, is designed to be a fun experience for dogs and their owners.

The route is filled with interactive panels featuring activities inspired by Wallace and Gromit, from ‘Gromit seconds’ for counting with your dog, to canine challenges like high-fives and staying still while taking in the forest views.

Visitors will even find a ‘cheese Gromit!’ photo spot to capture memories with their furry friends.

A special Forest Walkies activity pack is also available at the Mallards Pike Café, complete with a Wallace and Gromit tote bag, dog bandana.

Dan Weston, Forestry England’s recreation manager for the Forest of Dean, shared his enthusiasm, saying: “Mallards Pike is the perfect place for dogs to have fun, exercise, and stay healthy all year round.

“We’re thrilled to invite dogs and their owners for a grand day out with Forest Walkies. All our dogs deserve a treat, and this is the perfect way to give it to them.”

The trail is accessible via the Ordnance Survey’s OS Maps app, making it easy for visitors to explore while keeping track of their route.

Rachael Peacock, Aardman's senior brand manager, added: “Wallace and Gromit love the countryside and can’t wait to start encouraging families to get outdoors with their four-legged friends.”

Forestry England is encouraging visitors to follow the forest dog code to help protect both wildlife and the natural landscape, which includes keeping dogs close, properly disposing of waste, and following posted signs throughout the area.

Gromit will serve as an ambassador, with plans for more dog-friendly events at Forestry England sites over the coming year.
