Defibrillators are expensive machines to buy, and also expensive to keep running, said Glyn Edmunds at the start of Sunday’s tractor run from Hilston Park.

Glyn is a member of the Llangattock-vibon-avel Ploughing Society and welcomed tractor drivers and supporters to the latest vintage tractor run which always raises funds for various local good causes.

This run was organised by the man who knows vintage more than most, Mike Price. He and Yvonne managed to persuade Des Pugh and family to let them meet at a paddock adjacent to Hilston Park, where, after tea, coffee and cakes provided by Ray and Margaret Bowen, they set off in a cloud of smoke to wind their way through the country lanes to their lunch stop at Mitchel Troy where they were well looked after by Adrian and Rosemary Smith who provided a hog roast.

Raising £427 for the maintenance of local defibrillators, Julie Jones of the society said: “We want to thank Des Pugh and family for hosting the Road Run at Home Farm, Hilston Park, and also Adrian Smith and Rosemary aka Pigs on Spits for looking after us at the lunchtime stop in a lovely setting at Mitchel Troy and Margaret Bowen for tea, coffee & lovely cakes at the start of the day.

Their next event is the annual ploughing match and show on Sunday September 17th at The Sheilings by kind permission of President Jeff Preece and family with the show field at Pool Farm (cheers Dave Davies) and reversibles at Pointers Field (well done the Heaths).
