Will Jackson, a Hereford Elgar Rotary member, visited Monmouth on Wednesday to update local Rotarians on all the aid he has been involved in facilitating for the citizens of the Ukraine as they enter into the fourth year of their war with Russia.
Using articulated lorry runs from his Herefordshire base, they have been recipients of ambulances, hospital beds, kid’s friendship boxes (pictured), modified four wheel drive vehicles as well as electricity generators, several of which have been funded by local people, including a particularly powerful one no longer wanted and very generously donated by a local man who wished to remain anonymous.
Items of medical and humanitarian aid have been collected in the Worcester and Hereford areas with some of the transportation costs being met by donations emanating from Street Collections and the generous folk of Monmouth.
This coming Saturday, local Rotary members will be out on the street collecting once again in support of the Ukrainian people hoping the weather will be fine so that local people can be their usual generous selves. For those who no longer carry cash, payment by card and/or phones will also be available.
