With the support of Monmouth Town Council and Monmouthshire County Council two new benches have been installed on Vauxhall Fields. One has been placed on higher ground, giving a lovely view over the Fields towards Monmouth town and the Kymin beyond, the metalwork on this bench was refurbished by Monmouth Welding Service of Mitchel Troy. The bench was spotted in Mitchel Troy depot in January and thought worthwhile refurbishing by then Town Councillor Anthea Dewhurst and Bob Handley. The photograph shows Bob Handley of the Friends of Vauxhall Fields, former Mayor of Monmouth, Terry Christopher, and Sue with her dog Rowan enjoying the views towards the Kymin.
The second bench is made of recycled plastic waste and again has been relocated to the Fields providing views towards St Mary’s Church and Priory Street.
The Friends of Vauxhall Fields thanks Monmouth Town Council for funding the refurbishment and the Monmouthshire Waste and Street Services Team for installing the benches.
