YEAR 4 and 5 pupils from Kymin View Primary School have been studying the text from Kenneth Grahame's classic novel The Wind in the Willows.
After hearing of the desperate doings of the despicable Toad they were keen to see him brought to justice in the courtrooms of Monmouth's Shire Hall last month.
The children dressed up and had their faces painted as woodland creatures and took turns to act out the roles of judge and jury, witnesses and lawyers.
The pupils learnt much about the court process, participating, debating, asking and answering searching questions. Witnesses testified and were cross examined whilst the magistrate and judge maintained order. Everyone found the experience both exciting and educational except for Toad who was given his just deserves.
