Tedburn (150 all out) lost to
Tintern (151 for 9) by 1 wicket
On Sunday the Devon village side of Tedburn St Mary travelled to Tintern for the latest instalment of this annual touring match, played home and away in alternate years.
The fixture was inaugurated 24 years ago by Terry Evans and Don Farthers, and Tintern were seeking to regain the cup which they last held in 2003.
After winning a very important toss Tintern captain Mark Evans elected to field first. Stuart Williams and Steve Taylor opened the bowling for Tintern and proceeded to bowl magnificently, expertly controlling the swing and seam movement. The deserved breakthrough came when Stuart Williams bowled M.Barlow, and when he followed this up by also bowling Don Farthers and M.Alison the Tedburn innings was in trouble at 22 for three after the first 10 overs.
