MADAM,
Thank you for your coverage of Monmouth Carnival in the Beacon dated 5th July, and all the lovely photographs taken by Des Pugh. We would be grateful if we, Monmouth Carnival Volunteer Group, could have a little space to thank all the people who were involved in making this year’s carnival such a wonderful success.
We would like to thank (in no particular order) the mayor, Cllr Felicity Cotton and Mace Bearers Caroline Bright and John Blake, and especially John Blake who donated the prize money; Richard Evans for chauffeuring the Spirit of Monmouth, Sue White, in his vintage MG car; Lottie Dixon from The Bloom Room for providing the flowers; the staff of the Priory for allowing use of the building for no charge; St. Mary’s Church; the High Sheriff of Gwent for judging the entrants; the always dependable Rotary Club for providing marshals; local residents for putting up with the inconvenience of road closures; the RMRE for use of the castle car park; the Shire Hall, and particularly Tina who was on duty that day; all other stewards and helpers, including friends from Australia, Darryl and Margie; but most of all we would like to thank all those wonderful people who made such fabulous costumes and took part in the parade. Without you, there would be no carnival. We look forward to seeing you all again next year.
Planning for next year’s carnival has already begun and the date has been set for 8th July 2018. If you would like to get involved, come and join us at our AGM next month, exact date and venue to be announced soon, and follow us on Facebook.
Thanks again to everyone involved.
