CREAM teas and train rides last Friday afternoon (1st May) following a morning visit to the Nelson Museum, kicked off the first day of the Monmouth/Carbonne Twinning Association's 40th anniversary celebrations. Locomotive owners from Bath and Bristol, friends of a local enthusiast, brought their locomotives to provide trips around the garden for the visitors from Southwest France and their Monmouth hosts. On a cool breezy afternoon hot cups of tea to complement the scones and cake were just the ticket.
On Thursday 14th May, 65 players and friends from the Crescendo orchestra in Parce sur Sarthe (the town twinned with Raglan) are arriving in Monmouth for a three day exchange stay. They will be hosted by members of Monmouth Concert Orchestra and Raglan residents and will be in concert on the evening of Friday 15th May at Monmouth Leisure Centre. Tickets are available from Christine Tucker by telephoning 01600 860 224 and are available on the door.
The programme includes a range of popular pieces such as Adele's Skyfall and the Harry Potter theme tune. Commentary from the musical director will be in both French and English and members of Monmouth Concert Orchestra will play with Crescendo for one piece.
It promises to be an exciting few days and an amazing concert. Everyone is very heartily welcomed.
