The Blake Theatre rocked once again to the sound of the inter-school competition, “Monmouth’s Got Talent”, reports Des Pugh.
The three main schools of Monmouth gave the crowd an evening’s entertainment as they raised money for the Ted Senior Foundation and the Mindstep Foundation..
Judged by musical director for the Monmouth School for Boys, David Lawson, Mayor Cllr Terry Christopher, Deputy Mayor Cllr Anthea Dewhurst and President of Rotary Monmouth Phil Richards, the nine acts gave the judges a difficult task in choosing a winner.
Thre were no opening nerves for Caelah and Darcie Morgan and Matilda Chidwick as the three youngsters from Monmouth Comprehensive School (MSC) performed a gymnast routine starting the evening off with style.
This was followed by acts from the Haberdashers’ schools as well as MCS. Emily Walker sang Panis Angelicus by Cesar Franck and Isla Davies composed her own song, ‘I do’ for a musical based on the Royal Family.
Third placed piano duet Sam Britner and Ellis Chan played Tchaikovosky’s Sleeping Beauty waltz, and Ashley Wang played a piece entitled ‘Marriage d’Amour’.
Mia Donaldson, who came second, performed an Adele song and Christabel Collet, who has been selected for the National Children’s Brass Band, played the cornet.
The two bands were The Fuzz, who played Average White Band’s ‘Pick up the Pieces’ and Outrun the Rain, who are currently putting the finishing touches to their debut EP, took first place with their self-penned hard rock song.
The three MSC 6th formers are Ewan Bredemear-Walters (lead vocals/guitar), Rory Bredemear-Walters (keys/backing vocals) and Noah Ryder (drums/pads).
