Scouts and Explorer Scouts from Raglan, Shirenewton and Chepstow recently took part in an adventure week at the International Scout Centre at Kandersteg, Switzerland.

The party consisted of 45 Scouts, Explorer Scouts and Leaders, who camped at the World Scout Centre, which was the dream of Lord Baden Powell, the founder of Scouting.

Each year up to 11,000 Scouts & Guides enjoy the unique International Scouting Experience.

The Centre was opened 85 ago and young people and their leaders have been experiencing the high alpine environment (on skis or on foot) ever since.

Monmouthshire Scouts and Explorer Scouts took part in many of the exciting activities provided at the Centre, which included white water rafting, canyoning, swimming in glacial fed lakes, sledging, sleeping in high level mountain huts and snow and ice rescue activities, and, of course, plenty of hiking and trekking.

Everyone who visits the International Scout Centre leaves enriched by the special atmosphere, by the challenges met and the friendships forged. There are Scout and Explorer Scout Groups all over Monmouthshire should you...wish to live your dream!
