IT was a case of Strictly Starstruck at Monmouth's Savoy Theatre as dancing queen Shirley Ballas waltzed in to talk about and sign copies of her new novel.

Fans picked up copies of Dance to the Death on the night and were lucky enough to meet the Strictly Come Dancing chair of judges.

Rossiter Books, who organised the event, posted a photo saying: "Rustie, Jen and Andy with Shirley Ballas yesterday evening.

"Thanks to everyone who came along and to Shirley Ballas for making time in a very busy schedule to head our way.

"Thanks also to Hefina Rendell our interviewer and the wonderful Savoy Theatre, Monmouth for the best venue!

"If you came along and want to hear about other great bookish nights out join our mailing list. https://linktr.ee/rossiterbooks."

Shirley was following in fellow Strictly judge Anton du Beke's dance steps, who appeared at the Savoy in 2018 to talk about his debut book, and was back in town again at the town's Bridges centre last year with his latest novel.

Dance to the Death is the latest in Shirley's Sequin Mysteries series.

It’s Christmastime in London and all is not calm...

After solving a series of murders at Blackpool Tower Ballroom, all Lily Richmond and Susie Cooper want is a peaceful Christmas.

The last thing they expect is to find a dead body backstage at the Royal Albert Hall.

Even worse, the victim is one of Lily’s students, a trust fund debutante set to be the new star of the ballroom dancing world.

Lily and Susie set to investigating, but every clue throws up more questions, and around every corner lurk more suspects.

And along the way, familiar faces on the dance scene will make themselves known – some that ought to stay in the past.

Will the unlikely duo manage to wrap up the case in time to enjoy the holiday with their loved ones?

Or is there a greater danger behind the scenes than they could have imagined?

Dance to the Death is available at Rossiter Books in Monmouth and Ross.
