Savoy Youth Theatre held their awards evening at Bridges last Saturday with certificates and medals going to those youngsters who have improved and exceeded themselves throughout the past year.
Organised by Sam Densham - mother hen in panto parlance - the evening was split into two sections with a junior and senior awards presentation, a selections of songs and soliloquies interspersed with excerpts from Romeo and Juliet plus a polished performance of ‘Summer Nights’ from ‘Grease’ with the bonus of a discounted fish and chip supper from Queens.
The group is grateful to the Monmouth firefighters for their support and bravery following the fire at the Youth Theatre’s headquarters and to Monmouth Town Council for a grant which allowed them to get in extra teachers to extend their help for the members.
Playwood sponsored the Cherish Award which went to Tom Fell for senior and Fran Probert, junior.
Timpsons gave a generous discount on the statues and engraving.
The Junior’s ‘People's Choice Award’ went to Lily and the senior awards went to Ella.
Best character actor for performance in Shrek went to Darcie Bevan.

Firefighter Ash gave the ‘Best Comedy Actor’ to Hamish, Cllr David Evans gave the award for ‘Best Dance Choreography’ to Ella and ‘Best Vocal Performance’ went to Jax
‘Best technician and crew member’ went to Caitlin Walters, ‘Best Audience connection’ went to Maisie Barnet, ‘Best Male actor went to Ewen.
Spontaneous Productions sponsored award Overall performance and potential went to Holly and ‘Best Actress’ went to Olena
