AN award-winning rural inn has added another accolade to its collection by being listed for serving up one of the UK’s ‘Best Sunday Roasts’ by the Good Food Guide.
The New Inn at St Owen’s Cross, a few miles north of Monmouth near Llangarron, has already been voted Midlands Gastro Pub of the Year 2024 and has several AA rosettes..
And now the Good Food Guide has listed the pub as one of the top 50 places in the UK for a roast, after organising a public vote of diners, who were asked to explain why it was so special and deserving of ‘Best Sunday Roast’ status.
Thomas Leak, the New Inn’s head chef, said: “What an incredible honour for all of us here to be recognised by such a prestigious organisation and to be placed in the top 50 in the country.
“We love seeing family and friends come together at The New Inn to spend quality time with each other whilst enjoying a fabulous Sunday roast.
“We’re proud to serve a hearty meal here, always with plenty of veg, Yorkshires, roast potatoes, and of course lashings of gravy. A special thanks to every single person who took the trouble to vote for us.”
The Good Food Guide’s ethos is about empowering diners, helping readers and members to find the very best places to eat, and encouraging restaurants to offer the best possible food, service, and experience.
The gastro pub, which is owned by Two Farmers crisp producer Mark Green and his family, provides an informal drinking and dining experience and prides itself on using delicious, locally sourced ingredients when possible.
And by winning another award, the rural 16th-Century coaching inn continues to help to further cement the local area’s rightful place on the coveted foodie map.
