A ROW of beech trees in Tintern are to be pruned while a Cypress tree will be removed and replaced with a copper beech.
The trees are on conservation area land at the back of the Old School House in Forge Road.
Monmouthshire Council approved an application to pollard or prune the upper branches of five beech trees. The Cypress will be removed to reduce the risk of a landslip or collapse.
The council also approved cutting back branches from protected trees overhanging a driveway at the Cedars, in Llanbadoc, near Usk, from Dowlais Brook To Woodside Trading Estate.
The branches of an avenue of limes, plus one oak and two cedars, will be lifted to provide clearance.
