A SECOND prisoner has absconded from an open Monmouthshire prison in just two weeks, leading to calls for changes in the justice system.

Lee David Pearson, (pictured right) who was convicted of burglary at Swansea Crown Court last December, absconded from HMP Prescoed last Saturday night (2nd October).

Police say the 22-year-old is not a registered sex offender and is not serving a life sentence.

He is described as a black male, 1.8 metres tall and 78 kg. He has shaved dark hair and dark eyes.

It is believed he has contacts in the Neath and Port Talbot areas.

Pearson's disappearance comes just days after murderer Wyndham Thomas went on the run from Prescoed, a satellite of HMP Usk.
