LABOUR has been wiped off the political map in Monmouth following the town council by-election in the Overmonnow ward which saw Welsh Conservative Sue White re-elected to the position she stood down from in 2017.
The results were: 116 votes for Clair Macdonald, Indy Monmouth; 116 votes for Lyn Tanner, Welsh Labour; 214 Sue White, Welsh Conservatives.
There were 166 postal votes and 282 voters at the polling station out of a possible 1,610 voters eligible to vote in the ward, with a total turnout of 27.83 per cent. There were two spoiled ballot papers.
