FINE art gallery, The Big Sky Gallery in Usk, has chosen Claire Lovell as the new artist-in-residence.

Claire, who divides her time between Usk and Monmouth, will have a studio at the Big Sky Gallery, and will also manage the venue.

Claire’s work will also be exhibited in the beautifully converted chapel, alongside other works for sale by renowned artists such as Norman Cornish and Harold Riley, as well as famous Welsh names such as Wilf Roberts, Josef Herman, Brenda Chamberlain, Sir Kyffin Williams and Aneurin Jones.

The gallery, and its online counterpart, Big Sky Fine Art – www.bigskyfineart.com – were founded by Barrie and Jane Jones, keen collectors of art.

Former criminal lawyer, Jane Jones says: “We are delighted to have found a talented professional artist for this role. Claire’s vibrant, colourful landscapes will add a strong creative addition to the works we already display.”

Claire has exhibited extensively, with many works being shown at the Albany Gallery and the Wren, Burford, as well as at the delightful Inn at Penallt.

Claire describes painting, music and the outdoors as major forces in her life, and often paints to music. One of the works she enjoys painting to is Max Richter’s spirited re-working of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons – lending joy and spontaneity to her painting style.
