MP Catherine Fookes was among the guests at the opening of the Rainbow Trust Community Fridge in Chepstow.
The Chepstow Rainbow Trust is a Christian charity and community hub, and Mrs Fookes was invited to the grand opening of the refurbished facility which is housed in the form Green Dragon pub.
The opening was organised as both a thank you to the council and to celebrate a successful sustainability and community support.

The building is within the Chepstow conservtion area and is used as a community hub providing premises for two charities.
The Chepstow community fridge and the food club both support eco goals of minimising food waste and providing low-cost food options to those struggling with the cost-of-living crisis.
The renovation was supported by grants from the Chepstow and Monmouthshire councils as part of their goal of creating a high visual impact for visitors of the town.
Catherine Fookes said: “"It was brilliant to attend the opening of the Chepstow Community Fridge at the Rainbow Trust’s newly refurbished hub building – a fantastic community-led project tackling food waste and supporting those who need it most.”
“With over 40 volunteers, 24 supermarket collections each week, 70 tonnes of waste saved tonnes of food waste saved, and more than 100 people using the service regularly, it’s a shining example of what can be achieved when the community comes together to make a difference. This is what makes Monmouthshire such a special place to live. ”

The upstairs part of the building is rented accommodation providing a relatively low cost two bedroomed apartment.
The Rainbow Trust ommunity fridge is run by volunteers and there opening hours are Monday 5.30pm until 6.30pm. Wednesday and Friday 11am until 12pm.- they’re currently looking for more volunteers.
