The next instalment of Peter Bere’s exploration of Monmouthshire the ages.

This week’s image shows the location of the Blestium timber Roman Fort in 1st century Monmouth.

A Roman fort called Blestium was established, at what is now Monmouth, at the very outset of the Roman advance into Wales around AD 55.

Blestium was a fort and iron-working centre in the Roman province of Britannia Superior, part of Roman Britain.

All printed images are available from Rhodri Clarke at the Monmouth printers at The Town Wall St. James Square, Monmouth.

The printing cost for an A3 colour image is £10, which includes £3 for the charity ‘Friends of The Earth’ to help tackle Climate Change. Please quote the reference number of your chosen image - this week’s is reference 11.
