The next instalment in Peter Bere’s examination of Monmouthshire through the ages.

This week features late Bronze Age residents with boats shown by the remains of the great lake at over Monnow. Monmouth archaeologists believe that boats were built in pairs and were capable of crossing wide stretches of water such as the Irish Sea and that to the Continent. This was when metal was first used in Britain.

All printed images are available from Rhodri Clarke at the Monmouth printers at The Town Wall St, James Square Monmouth NP253DN. The printing cost for an A3 colour image will be £10, which includes £3 for the charity ‘Friends of The Earth’ to help tackle Climate Change. Please quote Ref 05.
