A survey has shown Monmouthshire to have the ninth most energy-efficient buildings in Wales.
Utility bidder conducted the survey as there had been reports that over half of UK business owners are concerned about rising energy costs and their impact on operations.
Business energy experts have analysed the data to reveal which regions in Wales have the most energy-efficient business buildings.
According to Ofgem “From April 1 to June 30 2025, the price for energy for a typical household who use electricity and gas and pay a direct debit will go up by 6 percent to £1849 per year.”
However, it does depend on each household and the amount of energy usage.
Monmouth has many local businesses, some of which have noticed an effect since the increase in energy prices have gone up.
The owner from The Boat House Gift shop and gallery said: “As with everything else energy prices are going up, all the prices are going up, but the energy prices seem to be taking a real hike in the last 12 months.”
“It's just something else to factor in when we charge our artists commission. We don’t want to put the commission up to high, but we must cover our costs.”
However, a spokesperson from Woodys Attic said: “We are such a low user of energy that we don’t really notice the increasing in energy costs.”
The owner of The Bloom Room said: “In my shop I use very little energy, everything is on LED, and everything is switched off when I go home.”
“Ultimately because I use so little there's not a great deal, I can do to change what my bills will be, we’re all subject to the price increases and there's not a great deal many of us can do about it.”
