The Monmouth Male Voice Choir’s Annual Concert, this year, will take place at St Mary’s Priory Church on 7th October. Tickets are selling fast (£12) but can still be obtained online www.monmvc.org.uk or from Stephen’s Bookshop in Church Street (Wednesday – Saturday).
Preparations have been going well with twice weekly rehearsals through September and another capacity audience is expected. Musical Director Lewis Hutton has been busy putting together a varied programme and supporters can look forward to hearing some new pieces and expect a few surprises too! If you have never heard the town’s male voice choir do make an effort to come along, you will be thrilled by the power and quality of this 50+ ensemble, one that has graced the Royal Albert Hall, performed for the US Ambassador and stirred Welsh passions when singing the anthems at the Principality Stadium. This year the choir will be joined by Allegra Choir from Newport. Allegra, like MMVC, are a relatively new choir and were formed in 2011. The all ladies choir are directed by Robert T. Elliott and were awarded the Gold Cup for ‘Most outstanding performance’ at the recent Cheltenham Festival of Performing Arts.
It certainly promises to be a night to remember and one not to miss – 7.30pm, 7th October, pop it in your diary now!
