A CLOSE-FOUGHT cricket T20 match was held at Monmouth Sports Grounds on Sunday in memory of David Uttley, in aid of Cancer Research UK. He passed away in 2022.

The teams were Monmouth Cricket Club and Monmouth Football Club comprising new, old and current members, friends and family who knew, played with or were coached by David. Pushed to the final ball the football squad won the match with a cracking four off the bat of Mitchel Palmer.

David was well-known in the sporting world for his love of cricket and his volunteering within Monmouth Town Football Club where he and many others developed the club to where it is today. He, along with a vast quantity of volunteers successfully pulled off the biggest Junior football tournament Wales had seen drawing in over 200 teams to play over one weekend.
