THE future of a long-running pub and club crib league is in the balance with no teams apparently willing to restart playing following the Covid lockdown.
The officers of Monmouth Crib League, which has been part of the local pub scene for decades, have called Extraordinary General meeting at 7.30pm on Monday, April 24, at The Club (formally the Con Club) to discuss its proposed disbandment.
A spokesperson said: "Since Covid 19 forced the cessation of all league crib games in 2020, there appears to be no further desire from any of the teams to enter into any further League games in the future.
"Therefore this meeting will be held with the intention of formally disbanding the league and to decide which charitable organisations should benefit from the current league funds.
"All teams who were actively part of the league in 2020 are therefore invited to send one representative to attend the meeting."
