David and Lynda Steiner from Hands Around the World (HATW) are celebrating 30 years of charitable work this Autumn.

As part of the celebrations, the charitable organisation will be having a free event in Bridges on 9th November between 2pm and 5pm. There will be things to do for the whole family. Have a go at African drumming and batik art, take part in the craft activities for kids and talk to them about volunteering whilst discovering stories from their archives whilst enjoying homemade cakes and drinks

Hands Around the World is a Monmouth-based charity that helps vulnerable children overseas supporting over 3,000 vulnerable children in five different countries.

Established in 1994, the charity helps children and young people disadvantaged through poverty, disability or otherwise vulnerable, in partnership with locally-managed centres in Africa and India. They also support well-prepared volunteers to offer practical help, skill-sharing and friendship.

They have a display at the library until Friday, 8 Nov showing stories from the lives of various people who have been involved with HATW over the last 30 years - from the children who have benefitted from HATW's support, to the volunteers who have helped, both in the UK and overseas. They are hoping that this display will reach local people and help them to engage with the wonderful work the charity is doing.
